aprilia shiver

A top fairing and lateral intake ducts in true racing style, composite frame with red trellis, black exhaust covers and two-tone graphics are just a few of the many contents and details that underscore its sports spirit with
the force of Aprilia’s technology and design.

Aprilia shiver looks like from the top, its so sexy…

the body of aprilia shiver so sexy

The narrow saddle, aft-mounted footpegs and handlebar position make riding ergonomic and sporty for riders of all statures and levels of  experience.  The Wave front and rear disc brakes let you safely tackle
the road with exhilarating aggressiveness. The separate and removable passenger footpegs also give the Shiver 750 an extra touch of sportiness.

Electronic control of the power supply provides the ideal torque in all conditions. Latest generation electronic fuel management makes it
possible to better handle the 95 hp at 9,000 rpm, optimising torque delivery across the rev range for a bike that is easy, efficient and fun to ride.
Aprilia was the first to introduce this technology on a production bike, revolutionising both riding pleasure and ease. The Ride-By-Wire system, which optimises power delivery, emissions and fuel consumption in relation to engine speed, gear selected, throttle grip aperture and closure speed,
temperature and atmospheric pressure, offers impeccable rideability and fluidity in all conditions.

The rider can change the character of the V90° engine by simply touching a button on the throttle hand with the thumb. Simply cycle through the three maps displayed on the instrument panel screen and select the one required: Sport, Touring, Rain. The letter representing the selected map flashes on the screen and, the next time you open the throttle, you will note that the bike personality has changed significantly!

The analogue-digital instrument panel is a genuine on board computer receiving and processing a whole host of information via the CAN line and equipped with its own memory for self-diagnostics. The LCD display, with adjustable backlighting for optimum visibility in all conditions, provides the rider with a comprehensive set of information: gear engaged, map selected, ambient temperature, trip time and clock.

100% made in italy, engineered and constructed entirely by aprilia, the 90° v-twin offers performance comparable to that of a four cylinder of the same class, with incredible elasticity and rideability. the 90° v configuration allows for remarkable results in terms of performance and compactness.
exciting and potent when you want to carve through the turns, smooth and linear when you want to enjoy the scenery on a longer journey, and reliable, thanks to aprilia experience and quality.

The hydraulic multiplate wet clutch is self-adjusting, for smooth, millimetre
precise engagement and maintenance-free use.

The chassis, which has always been one of aprilia’s strong points, is a
composite frame with the upper tubular steel part connected to large,
aluminium side plates on the Shiver, an admirable synthesis of rigidity and light weight. this work of sculpture emerges from aprilia’s experience on the racing circuits and allows the engine power to be used to full advantage.

Every component of the chassis exudes authentic sporting passion. The dimensions and configuration of the aluminium swingarm are specifically defined for maximum stiffness even when the bike is ridden hard.

The shock absorber is mounted laterally not just for an aesthetic reason, but because this solution frees up space for the centrally located exhaust manifold, allowing for perfectly symmetrical weight distribution. The lateral shock absorber, pivoted directly on the swingarm, features adjustable spring preload and hydraulic rebound.

The upside-down fork with 43 mm diameter stanchions and a wheel travel of
120 mm, lets the rider tackle any road with precision, comfort and safety. The steering yokes are in forged aluminium for maximum lightness and strength in true motorsports style.

If you want to enjoy effectiveness, thrills and spontaneity of riding to the utmost with extraordinary personality and style, then Shiver 750 GT is the ideal sport touring bike for you. Its new sharp and surrounding top fairing makes the design of this bike even more seductive, and its protection, even more complete in all conditions. The storage compartments with 12V socket keep all comforts within reach all of the time. A riding position designed to minimise fatigue, generous power delivery and torque on tap whenever you need it mean that any journey can be tackled with extraordinary ease and
confidence. The version with two-channel ABS offers the peace of mind of even greater active and passive safety, even in the most challenging situations.

Perfectly in keeping with the spirit of the bike, the top fairing of the Shiver
750 GT includes two practical storage compartments which are easily
accessible even when on the move. The fairing also boasts a 12V socket
for powering a GPS receiver, a battery charger or other accessories.

Shiver proclaims its sports character with a radial calliper braking system: a solution derived directly from motorsports. The 320 mm front discs are the same components used on Aprilia’s hypersports models: the result is outstanding braking performance and precision. Both the front and rear brake systems use metal braid pipes: another racing solution for
class leading braking performance.

In collaboration with Continental, Aprilia has developed an ABS system specifically calibrated for each of the two Shiver models to ensure maximum safety even in the worst road conditions. This innovative two channel system manages the front and rear brakes separately with a sophisticated
electronic control that monitors the speed of the two wheels in real time. Safety first and foremost, whether you are pushing the bike to its limits in the most challenging turns or if you are suddenly faced with an unforeseen hazard.

CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide The Art of Motorcycle

All the quality. All the legacy of the Harley-Davidson name. Plus custom touches and performance that distinguish you from every other bike on the road. Sure there's a little vanity. Premium custom paint. Big, tricked-out wheels. The perfect storm of engineering and style you'll only find on a custom machine. And you'll spoil yourself with the accessories from comfort to electronics to chrome. But the real signature of a Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations motorcycle is the explosive power and sleek detailing of the huge Screamin Eagle engine. It's custom-built, not just for anyone, but for true connoisseurs of the road.

Harley Davidson CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide red

These injection-molded hard bags have room for 2.26 cu. ft. volume of long-haul luxuries and a perfect surface for showing off some premium paint. Even better, these saddlebags open from the top, so your gear won't end up spilled all over the highway. They keep your fancy unmentionables dry, and the chrome latches won't corrode in bad weather. And when you're off the road, one common key starts the bike and gives you access to your saddlebags, keeping your pockets as uncluttered as your bike's refined design. The premium Tour-Pak adds to the luxury look and gives you even more space to pack stuff for the road. And we add another layer to the mix with exclusive Custom Vehicle Operations saddlebag and Tour-Pak carry-out liners. Dual-direction zippers for more access. Side pockets for your quick-reach items like cell phones, keys and wallet. Rubber bottoms that keep the insides dry and clean, and d-rings let you clip on attachments and shoulder straps for easy transport.

The back end of the CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide model demonstrates once again the premium style and innovative engineering you'll find with the Custom Vehicle Operations at Harley-Davidson. The taillight features an integrated wraparound brake light for a clean look. And with its wraparound coverage, you get additional style, increased visual footprint at night and long-lasting LEDs that just keep burning on.

CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide

The premium custom look goes the distance on the CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide model with the chrome dual exhaust. Featuring 4-inch touring mufflers, chrome billet end caps with black spears and chrome touring exhaust shields. Relish in the rumble and performance of these high-end pipes.

Aggressive yet balanced, every element of the CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide model is painstakingly designed to deliver the most luxurious riding experience and that includes the custom contrast chrome Roulette wheels. With a 16-inch wheel in the rear and 17-inch in the front, this Ultra boasts a smooth, nimble, slick ride no matter where your journey takes you.

Just like the most precious stone on Earth, the diamond-cut gauges on the CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide model speak to the custom, high-end look of the bike. Precise, crisp in every line, reading their displays reminds you every time that you are rolling on an exclusive motorcycle made by a legendary American company.

Individually crafted and hand finished, high-impact paint and graphics come standard on all Harley-Davidson Custom Vehicle Operations motorcycles. Concentrated metal flecking adorns the exclusive color scheme for a light-catching candy appearance. A subtle drop shadow emerges from beneath the hand painted pinstripe flames outlined in striking accent colors. Skimping simply is not in our vocabulary.

hand crafted harley davidson fuel tankHarley-Davidson fuel tanks are finished by hand that's what makes them stand out from the competition. Their seamless design and unmatched style are unique among all motorcycles on the road. The tanks are one of the first and last things people notice when they lay their eyes on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle so we make it worth their time. And a classically styled, bold six-gallon fuel tank doesn't just give you a bigger canvas for premium or custom paint; it holds six gallons of go so you can eat up a lot more road between pit stops.

The knowledge of what makes an engine truly move a rider runs deep at The Motor Company, and it was put to good use when we created the Screamin' Eagle Twin Cam 110 engine. We sweated bullets perfecting every cubic inch, pushing design and technology forward. And we did it all without compromising one bit of Harley-Davidson's unique styling. Evolved, yet carrying on the legacy of the Flathead, Knucklehead, Panhead, Shovelhead, Evolution and Twin Cam 88 engines that came before. The performance and durability are a direct result of the untold miles logged on the V-Twin since 1909, and the proud heritage that comes from a century's worth of commitment to life on two wheels.

Fire up the Twin Cam 110 engine and feel the low-end torque unleashed. The colossal 110 cubic inches provide seemingly endless torque with adrenaline-pumping pull through all six gears. Boasting the largest-displacement V-Twin engine by Harley-Davidson, the Twin Cam 110 produces 115 ft. lbs. of torque at 4000 rpm. Six speeds. A strong driveline and strong internal parts. Low routine maintenance. And a low cruising rpm couldn't feel better.

Feast your eyes on the Twin Cam 110 engine and there's no mistaking its roots. This is authentic Harley-Davidson style through and through with an attention to detail you won't find from any other motorcycle company. Granite heads and cylinders feature machined cooling fin tips and are highlighted by chrome rocker covers. Exclusive to Custom Vehicle Operations, the granite powertrain and 110 badging are unapologetically distinguished. It's a jewel machined out of metal. Pure. Dripping with power. From the classic edge of the cooling fins to the clean lines of cases and covers the Twin Cam 110 engine makes an ironclad statement to holding on to what's right and staying true to what satisfies the rider.

You want a ride that rumbles not begs for mercy when you lean on it a little. The Six-Speed Cruise Drive transmission provides smooth, quiet shifting and reduces engine speed on the highway, so you get a better match between engine turnover and road speed. And the Isolated Drive System makes acceleration flow in a smooth, steady stream from your wrist right down to the pavement. It's a rare ride when a bike responds like this, and a low growl goes a long way when you're opening up the road ahead.

Performance gets the custom treatment on Custom Vehicle Operations motorcycles. The addition of a high-performance clutch with hydraulic actuation helps make sure you're getting a smooth, confident feel with just the right amount of effort and a hands-off reliability that's only fitting. And you'll love the confidence and control it lends when harnessing those 110 cubic inches of Screamin' Eagle power.

Everything about the Screamin' Eagle Twin Cam 110 Engine is a testament to the premium styling and performance you get with a limited Custom Vehicle Operations motorcycle. Right smack between the engine jugs rests the high-flow "ventilator" intake with high-flow filter element, back plate, diamond-cut Screamin' Eagle badge and protective rain sock. Your bike will breathe easy while the increased air flow boosts the raw power. Unique and exclusive. That is what Custom Vehicle Operations is all about.

Iconic, fierce, the most distinct decibels you'll ever hear bouncing off city canyons or scenic country landscapes. The sound of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle has a rich history of its own. It's a classic roar. It's the sound of freedom, soul and self-expression.

Naturally, the king of the road gets some royal extras. The premium Harman Kardon audio system boasts great sound for booming down the boulevard and highway, and, yeah, it might as well go to 11. It's loud, proud and comes with AM/FM receiver, CD and MP3 player, 4 speakers (2 up front and 2 in the rear) with an amplifier that distributes 40 watts per channel even an intercom and CB. When it comes to hearing your tunes or just keeping your own chatter free and easy, this system has it all.

You may know where you're headed, but this little dandy helps you get more out of every mile. The quick-mount cradle makes it easy to mount and detach and it plays nice with the bike's tight lines. Designed by bikers for bikers, it's preloaded with City Navigator NT street maps and markers for H-D dealers, motels, restaurants, fuel, ATMs and anything else you might need while out on the road.

When it comes to the CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide model with ABS, "stopping power" has a double meaning. The components of our ABS are tastefully hidden within the wheel hub, so you'll still turn heads with a clean, streamlined design. More importantly, though, you get certainty in the saddle knowing your bike's going to behave when you need it.

Harley-Davidson touring means maximum comfort in all conditions and the capacity to add whatever enhances and personalizes your ride. The high output charging system provides an electrical capacity robust enough for your add-ons: heated vests, lights to showcase the engine, you name it. So if you're hell-bent on two-wheeling it, we make sure you've got the juice to do it your way.

Whether you need a quick charge for your cell phone or dinner from a hotplate on a lonely stretch of road, knowing you've got 15 amps of power to get through the day or night goes a long way. And don't worry about pesky rain spoiling your power supply the spring-loaded cap keeps the receptor dry and free of road muck.

If you're ready to take Touring to the next level, the cruise control feature will help you settle in for the long haul. Get the comfort of the cruise without the cables cluttering up your handlebar. Our electronic throttle control technology makes it possible to have the best of both worlds.

2011 Harley Davidson CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide automatic bike lockThe factory installed next-generation security system with siren features a hands-free fob that automatically arms and disarms the vehicle electronic security functions as you approach and walk away from the bike. Stick the fob on your ignition key ring and let it do all the work. For additional peace of mind, the automatic bike lock features a key fob that locks the ignition, Tour-Pak and saddlebags so you won't have to worry about leaving your valuables tucked away on your ride. It's this attention to details and rider security that make Harley-Davidson motorcycles unique.

Harley-Davidson leverages the latest in technology without compromising style and function. That means we hide electronics. The whole wiring harness is skillfully routed behind the jewels of the bike, the tank, engine and all the other eye-popping features you want to see. It's just another way The Motor Company goes the extra mile to give its bikes that premium, top-of-the-line fit and finish.

Hand controls on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle are incredibly intuitive. The turn signals are self-canceling and, based on the speed and angle of the motorcycle, they know how long to stay on. Engaging the controls quickly becomes second nature so you can focus less on turning off your signal and more on basking in the freedom of the ride.

A true Touring bike has to be tough enough to take on thousands of miles for years to come. Our Touring chassis is designed to do just that. Based on a single-spar, rigid backbone frame and swingarm, it easily handles the hum of that big Screamin' Eagle engine, and it's built to last. Perfect for riders that always take the scenic route.

Confidence. Control. High-performance dual disc Brembo brakes offer consistent stopping power. The 4-piston front and rear calipers with dual front rotor brake system is state of the art and top of the line. It's just another way The Motor Company puts a high level of detail into their bikes to give you peace of mind throughout your journey.

With air-adjustable suspension that comes standard, you can dial in your ride to accommodate heavier or lighter payloads, unexpected road conditions or simply set it to how you like to roll. The lighter the load, the softer you can go by decreasing the air pressure a bit, or increase the air pressure for a more rigid ride. It's all about rider and passenger comfort and setting your bike to fit your taste the easy way.

Harley-Davidson motorcycles are different than any other bike out on the road. There's a balance to them. The steering, the maneuverability It's all in concert. And each Harley-Davidson model is tuned differently to create a unique riding experience for each individual no matter which bike they swing their leg over. Let's face it, we didn't get to where we are by being like everyone else.

Need help convincing someone to let you buy your Custom Vehicle Operations dream bike? Or just to come touring with you? This seat's for them. Its suspended, dual-control luxury offers the ultimate in touring comfort for both rider and passenger. The monogrammed CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide backrest is plush and cozy, with adjustable lumbar support. The seat is heated to please the most finicky of hangers-on. A new suspension feature acts as a secondary shock absorber. And the seat itself has even been reshaped. It sits lower and it's trimmed in at the thighs for an ultra-comfortable ride mile after mile.

Slide them open for a cooler ride or leave them fixed to fight the wind tooth and nail. Use the glove boxes to empty your pockets, ditch your phone, and ride free. WR450F and YZ450F fill two of three positions for 2011 Dakar rally

The Quad category has seen Yamaha YFM700R machinery dominant with seven of the first ten classified riders reaching the end of Stage 5. The listing his headed by Alejandro Patronelli. The Argentine is attempting his second Dakar after winning two stages and finishing second to his brother in 2010. Last year’s victor, Marcos, lost all hope of defending his title after receiving a six hour penalty after Stage 1 and had to retire in stage 4 after injuring his knee but Alejandro has been flying the flag admirably for the family name and hasn’t dropped out of the top two in the general standings for four of the five stages; arriving first in two. “I’m exhausted and it has been a hard race so far but this is the Dakar and I will keep on pushing with this rhythm,” he said. Countrymen Tomas Maffei and Sebastian Halpern are running second and third respectively. One of the few female entrants, Franco-Italian Camelia Liparoti (using a YFM700R), is presently fifteenth from twenty Quad riders still in the rally.

A special mention must go to former six-times Dakar winner with Yamaha Stephane Peterhansel who is second in the car division and has not dropped out of the top three for the entire contest.

450km of sand and further off-road tracks lie in wait for the special stage 6 until the break in the town of Arica, near the Peruvian border. The pause in the schedule will permit valuable rest and recuperation time as well as a chance for mechanical repair.

2011 dakar rally

Today (Friday 7th) the 33rd Dakar rally will reach its sixth stage of fourteen and the crucial ‘rest day’ before the punishing trek back into Argentina from Chile. Over several thousand kilometres of diverse terrain and the harsh demands of the Atacama Desert have been completed so far and Yamaha can look towards a decent outing from the Yamaha Racing France Ipone team whose riders Helder Rodrigues and Jordi Viladoms fill two of three positions for WR450F and YZ450F technology in the top ten of the bike category.

Rodrigues suffered a tyre problem and a delay with assistance in the early phases of the rally (although he admirably completed the opening stage with used rubber) and has since been playing catch-up. The Portuguese – who was fourth overall in 2010 – currently lies fifth after consistent progress and is three positions in front of America’s Jonah Street (Team Jonah Street/JVO) with Viladoms in ninth. Sadly Frenchman Olivier Pain (team-mate of Rodrigues and Viladoms) had to withdraw from the race after a fall on Stage 4 led to a broken wrist. The experienced Enduro rider scored three top-five positions before getting ready for stage 5 and was aiming for a stage win yesterday. Passing Way Point 8 at 218km of the 423km long stint in first position, Olivier crashed at 231km of the stage and was forced to retire.

“I saw that the Pain had fallen and Marc Coma was already with him,” said Rodrigues after reaching the bivouac yesterday. “Even so I had to stop to make sure he was well because this is more important than anything else and fortunately his accident was not very grave. Afterwards I continued but I confess that it was hard to find my concentration again and get on the right trail. It could have been better but tomorrow we continue in the Atacama- my preferred terrain – so I hope I can fight for the lead and get near the podium.”

430 Participants from 51 Different Countries Ready for 2011 Dakar Rally

For the third year in a row the Dakar will remain in South America. The two week contest covering more than 9000km starting from the Argentine capital crossing the Andes into Chile, the longest country in the world, through the Atacama desert and traversing a wide range of topography and climates. Over 180 bikes and 30 quads fill an entry list that sees more than 430 participants from 51 different countries set to attempt the distance. The competitors have already sailed from Le Harve to Argentina and will undergo technical control on the last two days of the year.

The 33rd Dakar Rally draws ever closer and the 2011 edition of the historic and daunting event will begin in Buenos Aires on new year’s day with Yamaha hopeful of further good results in the motorcycling category thanks to the excellent support of Yamaha Motor France and their potent Team Yamaha Racing France Ipone.

In Team Yamaha Racing France Ipone colours will be recent Rally of Morocco runner-up Helder Rodrigues, Spaniard Jordi Viladoms, France’s Olivier Pain and David Barrot filling an important supporting role. Hopes are high for Portugal’s Rodrigues who was 4th overall in the rally in 2010 and in currently in decent form on the adapted Yamaha WR450F. 31 year old Rodrigues – 2010 European Enduro Champion no less - was 5th in the ’09 Dakar and breached the top four ten months ago so is now optimistic of reaching the final podium in one of the toughest rallies in the world. To add to his pedigree the rider has not finished off the podium in the four major international events he has contested in 2010. The motorcycle class boasts a full entry with 200 competitors and will use new regulations for the first time limiting all bike sizes to 450cc. This will suit the WR that won the previous 450cc section of the Bikes division in 2004, 2005 and 2007.

Viladoms is also buoyant for January 1st and the 30 year old has a best result of 7th at Dakar as well as being a stage winner. “We have a great bike for the Dakar,” he recently posted on his Twitter account. “We made a two day test in Morocco recently for the engine and suspension and every time we rode the bike felt better; the team are really motivated!”
Pain is one of France’s top Enduro riders and finished 9th at last year’s Dakar meaning that the French team have three top ten racers in their ranks and enter the meeting as one of the strongest crews on the starting list.
Yamaha have a fantastic record in the rally with nine overall victories stretching back from 1979 and six successes thanks to Dakar ‘legend’ Stephan Peterhansel. Frenchman David Frétigné’s first effort in 2004 saw the introduction of the famous ‘2-Trac’ mono WR450F and he won three stages against the might of the twin cylinders. Yamaha now stand an excellent chance of further distinction on this highest of levels for Rally. 4.1 million spectators took to the countryside to watch the 2010 edition and with the Dakar now embedded in South America the following is increasing.

“We have worked with and developed the WR450F in rallies since 2004,” explained Alexandre Kowalski, Marketing Director of Yamaha Motor France. “We have a lot of faith in the light chassis and the reliability of the four-stroke 450cc WR motor which deals aptly with the long and difficult races.”
Yamaha also will also have a strong presence in the Quad category with the Argentine Patronelli brothers, Marcos and Alejandro, having dominated the competition in 2010 on their Yamaha Raptors. This time the formidable family partnership will count on increased technical back-up from Yamaha Motor Argentina and are clear on their goals. “The support from Yamaha during the rally means we can be more relaxed and organised for the race in 2011,” said last year’s winner and recent Rally of Pharaons victor Marcos, “we can use the stops for more rest and recuperation and these are two fundamental aspects for the Dakar. The Raptor is a powerful and reliable vehicle so we are optimistic.”

Of the 13 entered females in the 2011 race one will be Yamaha Quad pilot Camelia Liparoti. The former Quad Cross country World Champion will be blogging the experiences of her second Dakar and her endeavours can be seen on www.facebook.com/yamaharacingcom. Helder Rodrigues will also be providing updates online.

Concerning the route itself perhaps the hardest part will be the second half in which the intensity of the schedule and distances increase after the rest day on January 8th. In fact the longest Special takes place on the 9th with a mammoth 631km to be covered in the fastest way possible. The latter section of the rally also means the drop down through Chile and the dune and desert landscape more familiar with the veterans of the African Dakar. The Atacama is said to be one of the driest deserts in the world but generally the layout will involve a wide variety of terrain with the routing touching the borders of several countries including Bolivia and Peru; a truly encompassing voyage.

Kawasaki Concours 14 ABS Touring Sporty Motorcycle 2010 With Fuel Economy Assistance

Concours ABS 2010 Two years on, the next-generation Concours 14 benefits from an entire laundry list of comfort, convenience and safety items carefully engineered to surpass all expectations of what a perfect sport tourer should be.

That bike’s amazing 1,352cc engine and unique monocoque frame lent themselves perfectly to this exciting new class of transcontinental sport touring motorcycles.

Performance touring comes naturally to Kawasaki, seeing as how we already had the performance part of the equation nailed with the incredible Ninja ZX-14 sportbike.

Activating fuel economy assistance mode changes the engine to a leaner map which prioritizes fuel economy, for as much as a 25 percent MPG boost. Fuel economy assistance works in any gear, as long as rpm is below 6000, throttle opening less than 30 percent and speed less than 80 mph. KTRC adds no weight, since it uses the existing ECU and ABS sensors.
